Itinerary
Day 1 – Miami
Welcome to Miami and the sweep of the South Beach – backdrop to every iconic Miami movie, and forefront of the Latin American culture. Stroll through pastel-hued geometric buildings in the art deco district, to graffiti mural masterpieces at Wynwood Walls. Watch Latino life unfold in Little Havana- the heartbeat of this great city – where walk-up windows sell cafe cortadito, sweet sugarcane juice, hatuey beer, and guava ice-cream. Watch passionate locals discuss politics, play dominoes, and smoke cigars. Shimmy at a salsa class, shop designer boutiques, and race marlin and sharks by speedboat. Then slow your pace to uncover rare and endangered species at the Everglades National Park outdoor oasis. You’ll find the Miami dream is real – an it’s not just Cuban heels that will give you a spring in your step.
Day 2 – At Sea
Day 3 – Ocho Rios
Reggae rhythms and Caribbean spices drift through the air in laid-back Ocho Rios, where time is measured in rosy dawns and tangerine sunsets. Browse below the palms on forest-fringed beaches or climb up into the mountainous interior, where old plantations offer a glimpse into the island’s colonial past. Find positive vibrations in the village of Nine Mile, where Nesta ‘Bob’ Marley strummed his first guitar and now rests in a marble Mausoleum. The cooling mists and forest pools of Dunn’s River Falls carry the imagination to lofty heights, while the Green Grotto Caves plunge into a subterranean world of labyrinthine caverns and honeycomb stalactites, historical hideout for indigenous Arawak and stealthy smugglers.
Day 4 – George Town (Grand Cayman)
Bask in the low-key and luxurious buzz of George Town, the capital of the Cayman Islands. Stroll streets lines with candy-colored houses and international banks in its financial hub, then venture to its legendary white sands of Seven Mile Beach. Beyond, find an island increasingly known for everything from its budding art scene to its bona fide cocktail and culinary creativity. Look for endangered blue iguanas at the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park, swim with the gracious stingrays, dive coral-crusted shipwrecks, and venture into a crystal cave of surreal stalactites.
Day 5 – Cozumel
Off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula and off the charts in charm, Cozumel, once sacred to the Mayan Mood Goddess, Ixchel, now is a wealth of natural beauty. Dive into the kaleidoscopic Caribbean waters that lap her beaches, follow dive guides to the Mesoamerican reef, or win the sacred cenotes. Take a walk ont he Wild East side, sink into hammock and sip Mezcalitos cocktails and nosh on the freshest fish tacos. Kayak the mangroves or hike trails around the marshland and pay homage to Ixchel at her temple ruins of San Gervasio.
Day 6 – Progresso (Merida)
Head into the port of Progresso, gateway to some true Yucatan treats. Learn about the history, customs, and culture of the ancient Maya. Seek out elegant architecture, well-preserved Mayan exhibits and a drop of mezcal in charming Merida. Head out to visit the impressive sights at one of the new Wonders of the World; Chichen Itza. Visit the archaeological ruins of mythical Uxmal, explore the Temple of the Seven Dolls, and cool off in the sacred waters of a secrete cenote. A marvel of the wonders of Mayan myths.
